We've got a few old 7s on the register now, but these Ulsters rarely come up (although, this is a replica, not a genuine Ulster) so we thought it a good idea to get this interesting example onto our list. The Ulsters are a two seater roadster version of the Austin 7, and did particularly well in racing back in the late 20s / early 30s. They weren't quite as good looking as the Australian bodied "Meteor" two seater (which was arguably much better proportioned), but nonetheless these do look like a miniature Bugatti!

This particular example was advertised with a classified price of 28,595 GBP in late 2022 on Ebay UK. See the original listing here.

In the original Ebay advertisement, the seller made the following comments about the car:

Chassis correctly drilled / lightened / narrowed / shortened / flattened to Ulster spec, using original Ulster Springs along with lowered steering, body is one of the first 6 made by Ray Petite during the 1970’s supplied to Stuart Rolt (never used or fitted to a car / just workshop stored for best part of 50years). Ulster style bench seat, Ulster Dials, genuine R47 headlamps / CF1 Brass Cutout / AT201 Rear Light. Fitted with A Brooklands Bluemels 4 Spoke Steering Wheel, fold flat windscreen with Ulster Hood and Frame. Wheels refurbished with new rims and spokes.

Pigsty engine which was rebuilt January 2022 prior to fitting by Ian Bancroft :- Phoenix crank, rebored with slipper pistons, high lift cam, oversized valves, new springs, external filter arrangement, alloy valve chest cover, alloy flywheel, fully balanced bottom end, 4 into 1 Pigsty racing exhaust, single SU Carburettor refurbished all carefully set up and run in by me.

Don Rawson 3 Speed close ratio gearbox, rebuilt banjo back axle with new bearings / seals / 5.25 CWP.

Used through the summer covered now 2500 miles, took part in the Centenary celebrations at Prescott and listed in the Centenary Programme, wired with a main battery isolator, red rear rain light along with MSUK fire extinguisher for competition, competed with the VSCC sprints and hill climbs and raced at Mallory VSCC this summer, VSCC registered with a Buff Certificate."

Check out the others on the register, and you have a vintage Austin 7, please share it by signing up and uploading yours to the register!
